Why is Our Campus Dumb?

It still bothers me that students living in campus houses aren't allowed to have members of the opposite sex in their houses. I'm a 21 year old college student with a girlfriend... i have needs. How do they expect the students to live like they force us to? No one follows the rules anyway, and none of the RD's care. So i don't see what the big deal is with opposite sex visitation... if anyone knows the real reason behind this nonsense, please let me know...
